How can I change my booking on Rentcars?

Need to make changes or add extras to your booking? All of this is possible, read more details.

You can change your reservation in three ways: directly through the Rentcars website, through the online chat with Carol, our virtual assistant, through the app, or by contacting our Customer Support Center.

How can I change my reservation on the website?

  1. Log in to your Rentcars account.

  2. In the upper right corner of the screen, click on My Account.

  3. Go to the My Bookings tab and click on View details for the reservation you want to change.

  4. Click on Make changes.

  5. Choose what you would like to modify in your reservation:
    - Date
    - Time
    - Or both

  6. After selecting the desired option, follow the on-screen instructions to proceed with the request.

How can I change my reservation through the app (Android and iOS)?

  1. Open the Rentcars app and log in to your account.

  2. Tap My reservations.

  3. Select the reservation you want to change by tapping the pick-up code.

  4. Tap Manage your reservation and then Make changes.

  5. Choose what you want to modify in your reservation: date, time or both

  6. After selecting the desired option, follow the instructions shown on the screen to continue with the request.

How can I change my reservation via online chat?

  1. Log in to your account.

  2. Access the customer support center by clicking "Help" and then "Online Chat" in the menu.

  3. Start a conversation with Carol, our virtual assistant, select your confirmed reservation and choose the "Modify reservation" option. Changes are only available for reservations where the vehicle has not yet been picked up. Then, simply start the modification process directly through the chat.

Modification via Customer Service:

Contact our specialists using the numbers provided on your confirmation voucher. If you do not have the voucher, access the Customer Service on our website, click here, select the topic, and find all available numbers.

What is the deadline to change my reservation?

The deadline to modify your reservation may vary depending on certain factors. See below how it works:

  1. General deadline: Changes can be made through the website or app up to 24 hours before the scheduled vehicle pick-up time.

  2. Car rental companies with their own modification policy: Some car rental companies have specific rules and do not allow modifications within 48 hours before pick-up. In some cases, even when the modification is allowed, additional fees may apply.

    Car rental companies such as Sixt and Dollar, for example, have their own rules for modifications. In these cases, the fees applied follow the same logic as cancellation policies, since the previous reservation needs to be “cancelled” in the rental company’s system so that a new one can be generated with the updated details.

  3. Less than 24 hours before pick-up: If there are less than 24 hours remaining before the start of the rental, the change must be requested with the support of one of our customer service specialists.

  4. After the pick-up time: It is not possible to modify the reservation after the scheduled vehicle pick-up time. In these cases, any request must be handled directly with the rental company.

You can check the specific conditions applicable to your reservation in the confirmation voucher, sent by email after issuance or available in your account under My Reservations.

Can changing the reservation alter its cost?

Yes, rental companies use dynamic pricing models. This means the cost of a rental can fluctuate based on various factors:

  • Demand and availability: Prices often change due to availability of car categories and times. For example, during high-demand periods, adjustments to your pickup time may result in a higher price.

  • Time-sensitive rates: When you modify a reservation (e.g., changing the pickup time by a few hours or days), the current rate at the time of modification applies, rather than the original rate when the booking was made. This can lead to price differences.

Price increased after the change

If the change to the reservation results in a price increase, it will be necessary to pay the difference to confirm the modification. If the payment is not made within the deadline, the reservation may be automatically canceled.

Price decreased after the change

If the modification reduces the reservation price (such as choosing a lower-category vehicle or shortening the rental period), the difference will be refunded, or in the case of full payment with Cashback, the remaining amount will be credited to your account and can be found by accessing "My Wallet."

What happens if I change my booking and the exchange rate changes?

Your reservation amount may be adjusted based on an average of exchange rates at the time of the change.

If the change involves a different currency, the reservation cost will be converted and may vary according to the exchange rate at the time of change. If the change causes a price increase due to currency conversion, you must pay the difference to confirm. If it leads to a decrease, the difference will be refunded.

Can I guarantee the original price after a change?

Rates can vary based on availability, which is why we cannot guarantee the same price after a change. But don't worry: during the modification process, the system always shows the new price before you confirm.

Discount coupon: is it still valid when I modify my booking?

The discount coupon originally applied may remain valid, depending on its terms of use. It’s important to check conditions such as the expiration date and whether the selected rental company accepts coupons.


Additionally, during the modification process, it’s not possible to preview whether the coupon will be retained; this confirmation is only available at the final step. Factors such as the modification date in relation to the coupon’s validity may directly impact its application.


If the coupon is no longer valid (for example, if it has expired), it will be automatically removed. In such cases, the final price may be higher, as only the current rate will be applied without the previous discount.

Does my cashback remain valid if I modify my booking?

Yes! In most cases, your cashback remains active after a modification.
When a change is made, the system automatically recalculates the cashback based on the updated booking details, such as the new total amount, rental duration, or selected car category.


The main requirement is validity: the balance must be within the 18-month period from the release date.


Tip: always check the payment summary before confirming the modification to see your updated cashback amount!

What happens to RentalCover if I change my reservation?

You can change your reservation even if you’ve purchased RentalCover, but the insurance may also need to be adjusted according to the new reservation details. RentalCover must be re-added to the reservation, and the protection value may be updated based on the new terms.

Is it allowed to change the pick-up or drop-off location?

Changing the pick-up or drop-off location is possible in many cases but depends on vehicle availability and the rental company's policies. Changes may incur additional fees and are always subject to the rental company’s approval.

How to request the change:

  • Before picking up the vehicle: The request can be made by contacting our customer support team. Changes to the pick-up or drop-off location cannot be made directly on the website and must be processed by our support team.

  • After picking up the vehicle: in this case, you must contact the rental company directly to check the possibility of making changes.

Can I change the name or driver on my reservation?

No, it is not possible to change the name of the reservation holder or the driver after the reservation is confirmed. This is necessary to ensure the security, data validity, and proper registration of the driver's information in the booking and vehicle pickup systems. There are several important reasons for this policy:

  • The main driver's information is sent directly to the rental partner's system, preventing subsequent changes.

  • Security and data validation must be maintained to avoid discrepancies at the time of vehicle pickup.

  • The main driver is responsible for meeting the rental company's requirements, such as presenting a credit card in their name for the security deposit.

If you need to correct this information, the current reservation must be canceled and a new reservation created with the correct details. Refer to the cancellation article for instructions on how to proceed. Please note that rates are subject to vehicle availability and may vary when creating a new reservation.

Important note: If the main driver indicated in the reservation is not present at the time of pickup, the vehicle will not be released, even if an additional driver is listed on the reservation. In this case, it will be necessary to cancel the reservation and create a new one with the correct main driver.

Can I change my reservation after the scheduled pick-up time?

Yes, you can still make changes to your reservation even after the vehicle has been picked up. However, changes must be requested directly with the rental company. If you wish to extend the rental period, add or remove extras, or change the return location, you must check directly with the rental company. The store's contact number is available on your confirmation voucher or rental agreement.

How do I know if my change was completed?

After requesting the change, we will communicate via email with all information about the status of your request. Once the change is confirmed, you will receive an email with all the updated details.

Important!

When requesting a change, be aware that the availability and price of the vehicle may vary. Changes must be made in advance, especially during periods of high demand, and the rental company's cancellation policy may influence the modification or cancellation of the reservation.

Important procedures and considerations

  • Error when modifying times: If you encounter an error message while trying to change the reservation, there may be no availability in the system for the selected options. Evaluate alternative dates, times, or categories. If you need additional support, contact our service center.

  • Confirmed reservation: Generally, the Rentcars booking code is maintained after finalizing the changes.
