Profile assessment criteria may vary depending on the country and each rental company's policies.
Depending on the country where the vehicle will be picked up, rental approval may take into account factors such as identification documents, driver's license, previous rental history, credit card information, and other internal criteria related to security and risk prevention.
In Brazil, some rental companies may also conduct specific assessments using local information, such as the CPF number and credit bureau checks.
Below, we explain how this process may take place for rentals in Brazil and answer the most common questions on the subject.
Important: Rentcars, as the reservation intermediary, does not participate in this process and does not have access to the criteria used by rental companies or the reasons for a potential denial.
What is a profile or registration assessment?
A profile or registration assessment is a verification carried out exclusively by the rental company. It may take into account information such as the CPF number, driver's license, driver details, and other internal security and risk criteria to determine whether the rental will be approved at the time of vehicle pickup.
Rentcars, as the reservation intermediary, does not participate in this process and does not have access to the reasons for a potential denial.
How can restrictions on my CPF affect my car rental?
If the CPF has restrictions registered with credit protection agencies, such as SPC or Serasa, the rental company may choose not to authorize the release of the vehicle at the time of pickup, according to its internal risk assessment policies.
It is important to keep in mind that each rental company adopts its own criteria, which may vary between companies and even between countries.
Important:
Even when the reservation has been prepaid, vehicle release remains subject to the rental company's assessment at the time of pickup.
Is there any flexibility in certain situations?
Although CPF restrictions may generally have a negative impact on rental approval, some rental companies may apply less restrictive policies depending on their internal criteria. However, such flexibility is not guaranteed.
In some cases, it may be possible to add a financial responsible party to the reservation, subject to the rental company's conditions. In this situation, the assessment will also be carried out on the financial responsible party's CPF.
What can I do if my CPF has restrictions?
If your CPF has restrictions, the main way to reduce the risk of being denied at pickup is to resolve any outstanding issues with credit protection agencies before making a new rental reservation.
Even if all other rental company requirements are met (such as valid documentation and a credit card in the driver's name), vehicle release may still be denied if CPF restrictions exist, according to the rental company's internal assessment criteria.
What should I do if the assessment is denied and I cannot pick up the vehicle?
If the profile assessment is denied, the rental company may cancel the reservation, preventing vehicle pickup.
In these cases, we recommend:
Contact our customer service team: if the reservation was prepaid, contact Rentcars to verify the cancellation and refund conditions applicable to your reservation, which will follow the rental company's cancellation policy.
Consider alternative rental options: evaluate other rental companies that may apply different assessment criteria.
