What is Rent Protection?

Rent Protection is an exclusive product from Rentcars that offers even more peace of mind when renting a car.

This product reimburses the renter for the deductible costs of the vehicle's insurance policy. This applies in cases where claims require the activation of the insurance and the consequent payment of the deductible.

In this way, the renter reduces financial losses resulting from these setbacks, ensuring a more tranquil, comfortable, and secure experience, all through a simple process with Rentcars.

What does Rent Protection cover?

Rent Protection covers the deductible costs of the insurance policy taken out with the rental company, providing reimbursement up to the limit of R$10,000.00.

This means that in the event of a claim, the renter pays the deductible stipulated in the rental contract, and Rentcars reimburses the amount afterward, up to the limit of R$10,000, provided the terms and conditions are met.

Additionally, all additional drivers identified in the rental contract enjoy the same benefit, not just the reservation holder.

Important

There are specific scenarios in which Rent Protection does not offer coverage. To ensure a good experience when renting a car, it is essential to be aware of these situations.

Rent Protection does not cover:

  • Damages not covered by the insurance policy contracted with the rental company: Rent Protection will only reimburse the deductible if the claim is within the coverage of the contracted insurance.

  • Assistance services: Towing, mechanic, or any other type of assistance are not included.

  • Changes to the rental contract: Changes made directly with the rental company and not informed to Rentcars may result in the refusal of reimbursement. Adjustments such as extending or shortening rental days, changing the vehicle category, etc., must be communicated to Rentcars to keep the coverage valid.

  • Infractions and specific conditions: Traffic violations, failure to meet the minimum or maximum permitted age, claims in non-covered locations, lack of valid documentation, among others, may invalidate the insurance coverage and, consequently, the Rent Protection reimbursement.

Remember that Rent Protection is a supplemental product that operates independently of the insurance contracted with the rental company, offering exclusive reimbursement for the deductible paid in case of a claim, within the established limits and conditions.

How to purchase Rent Protection?

You can purchase Rent Protection at any time between the reservation and the scheduled date for picking up the rented vehicle. The purchase can be made during the reservation process or through our customer service channels.

How does Rent Protection work?

Rent Protection is an optional service that functions as extra coverage. It provides reimbursement for the deductible costs of the vehicle's insurance, in the event of accidents or claims, up to the limit of R$10,000.00 (ten thousand Reais). In other words, after paying the deductible costs to the rental company, you can activate Rent Protection through Rentcars and receive the reimbursement, up to the limit of R$10,000.00 (ten thousand Reais), directly into your bank account.

Is Rent Protection insurance?

No, Rent Protection is not insurance. It offers reimbursement for the deductible you pay to the rental company in the event of a claim, provided you have previously contracted the rental company’s insurance.

Is it necessary to purchase insurance from the rental company if I purchase Rent Protection?

Yes, to purchase Rent Protection, it is mandatory to also purchase the vehicle insurance offered by the rental company. Rent Protection complements this service by reimbursing the deductible amounts.

Important

Rent Protection is extra coverage and does not offer protection to the vehicle by itself. Therefore, it should always be associated with one or more insurances contracted with the rental company.

What to do in case of a claim during the car rental?

In case of a claim, you should contact the rental company for assistance. After the rental contract is closed and the procedures and deductible costs are paid, gather the necessary documents and send them to Rentcars within 30 days.

It is essential that you keep all records of the incident and receipts for expenses related to the incident to activate Rent Protection.

How to request reimbursement?

To request reimbursement, contact Rentcars and email the documents related to the rental and the claim.

What documents are needed to request Rent Protection reimbursement?

To request reimbursement, you must present some documents, such as:

  • Rental contract;

  • Bank statement or credit card invoice with the amount charged by the rental company;

  • Proof of repair done on the rented car;

  • Report and photos of the damage, among other documents that prove the incident.

How long does Rent Protection reimbursement take?

The reimbursement request must be made within 30 calendar days after the vehicle return date. After submitting the request and all necessary documents, Rentcars reviews your request within a few days. Once approved, the amount will be credited exclusively to the bank account of the reservation holder.

How is Rent Protection reimbursement paid?

The reimbursement is made exclusively to the bank account of the person responsible for the rental contract.

The currency used for reimbursement may vary according to the renter's country of residence, following the rule: in Brazilian Real (R$) for residents of Brazil, in Euro (€) for residents of the European Union, and in US Dollar (USD) for residents of other countries.

How to modify or cancel Rent Protection?

Rent Protection can be modified at any time before the vehicle is picked up, which may impact the final values.

To cancel, the reservation holder must contact Rentcars through the customer service channels and request it directly.

Upon canceling Rent Protection, the amounts already paid are refunded according to the payment method selected at the time of reservation:

  • For payments made with a credit card, the refund of the amount paid for the extra coverage will be credited to the next credit card statements used for payment, following the operator's rules.

  • For payments via PIX or bank slip, the refund is made by bank deposit in the name of the reservation holder.
