Unexpected events happen, and we understand that well. When it's necessary to cancel a prepaid booking, you can receive a refund according to the rental company's policy. But we also offer an even more practical alternative: future credit.
What is future credit?
Future Credit is a way for you to keep the amount you've already paid for your prepaid booking for later use. Instead of receiving a refund, the amount is available as a credit voucher, which you can use for a new booking with Rentcars.
How does future credit work?
When you request the cancellation of a prepaid reservation, a good option is to convert the amount paid into future credit. In this case, the amount is converted into a credit voucher that can be used for a new reservation.
The credit voucher is valid for 12 months (1 year) from the date of issue, allowing you to use the amount during that period according to your needs.
In what situations can future credit be offered?
Future credit can be an option for you if:
You requested the booking cancellation before the pickup deadline (respecting each rental company's policy).
You requested the cancellation due to a "No-Show" in cases where there is no retention of funds.
In what cases is future credit not an option?
It is not possible to generate future credit in the following cases:
Your cancellation request was made after the pickup deadline or outside the cancellation period, and the rental company for your booking has its own retention policy (e.g., Sixt, Avis, Budget, Alamo).
You requested the cancellation after the booking deadline.
If the reservation includes RentalCover protection and the cancellation is requested after 11:59 PM on the pick-up date, it will not be possible to issue a future travel credit voucher, and the cost of the protection will be retained.
What are the rules for using the future credit voucher?
The credit is non-transferable and can only be used for bookings in the name of the same holder.
The voucher value is the same as what you paid, in the same currency as the original transaction.
Attention: If your original booking was paid in installments, the interest is not included in the voucher value.
For English-speaking customers: A voucher generated from a national booking cannot be used for an international booking, and vice versa.
